Acting legend Brooke Shields has spoken candidly about how becoming an “empty nester” has helped her rekindle the passion in her marriage with husband Chris Henchy. The 59-year-old actress’s daughters, Rowan and Grier, recently moved out of their $6 million Hamptons home to start college.
Shields had devoted most of her time to raising her children for 21 years before they left the nest. However, she has now come to realize that having the house to herself has given her a new sense of freedom. “My older daughter said, ‘Alright mom, time to rekindle [your relationship] with dad,'” Shields recalled in an interview.
The actress also wrote about this experience in her upcoming memoir, “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman.” In the book, she describes the idea of becoming an “empty nester” as a liberating experience that brings both fear and uncertainty. However, it also offers a chance for personal growth and self-discovery.
Shields’ own home in Southampton, NY, is a stunning example of this newfound freedom. The six-bedroom, eight-bath property features a classic style with a contemporary edge. After 21 years of devoting her time to raising her children, Shields has now rediscovered the joy of having a home to herself.
With her book set to be released on January 14, Shields’ focus is currently on promoting her memoir. However, she will also open up about sensitive topics such as aging and sex in the coming weeks.
