Brown University Shooting Leaves Two Dead, 9 Injured

Gunshots, sirens, and a manhunt transformed a typical Saturday night at Brown University. A gunman killed two people and wounded nine others in an engineering lab on campus. Students huddled together, waiting for hours in the dark before police found them.

The scene was chaotic with flashing emergency lights, ambulances, and dozens of law enforcement officers. Governor Dan McKee called it “an unthinkable nightmare.” Police searched the area, finding no suspect after two hours.

As students waited for answers, misinformation spread on social media, including a false report that the shooter had been caught. Eventually, police found three students hiding in a building, sending them out to continue the search.

The shooting occurred on the eastern edge of campus, where students were studying for exams when suddenly they were sheltering in place. Local businesses like Ceremony Tea opened their doors to provide lodging for stranded students. The incident has left many shaken, with Governor McKee describing it as a “surreal” scene.
