The Cleveland Browns envision Colorado cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter playing primarily one position over the other. According to GM Andrew Berry, they see him as a receiver first due to his exceptional ball skills. Berry stated that Hunter’s ability to use his ball skills 100 times during the season would be a valuable asset in the right position.
Hunter’s impressive stats at Colorado last season, including four interceptions and 11 PBUs on defense, and 15 receiving TDs, 1,258 receiving yards, and 96 receptions on offense, have sparked debate about which position he should play at the next level. Berry noted that there is a consensus that Hunter can do both well.
While Titans GM Mike Borgonzi believes Hunter could start as a cornerback, Browns coach Brian Callahan thinks he would be a better fit as a corner with potential to play more offense. The Titans’ assessment differs from the Browns’, but both teams recognize Hunter’s unique ability to excel on both sides of the ball.
Berry acknowledged that their coaches and scouts may have differing opinions about where Hunter should be in the draft, but any team he joins would be happy to utilize his exceptional skills.
