Browns Set Stage for Regular Season Opener

The Cleveland Browns returned home after a 22-13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, with the final preseason game coming against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said the team will approach this week as if it’s already Week 3 of the regular season, giving players a normal game plan before their opener against the Bengals on September 7.

Stefanski also revealed that the starting quarterback position is expected to be named soon, with a decision likely made in the next few days. The Browns have had mixed performances from quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel through the first two weeks of preseason, while Joe Flacco has taken the majority of first-team reps but didn’t play.

The coaching staff hopes that Sanders and Gabriel will increase their participation in practice this week, but are taking each injury day by day. Stefanski praised the quarterback room for their improvement and work ethic, with a focus on developing and preparing players for the upcoming season.

Notable rookies like Mason Graham, Carson Schwesinger, Dylan Sampson, and Harold Fannin Jr. played in both preseason games, while others like Dawand Jones and Cedric Tillman saw more significant action. The coaching staff is taking an individualized approach to player development, with a focus on giving players meaningful reps in practice and game settings.
