Bruins Fall Short in Las Vegas, Losing Streak Extends to Four Games

The Boston Bruins began their five-game road trip with a disappointing loss to the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night, extending their losing streak to four games. The team struggled to create scoring chances throughout the game, despite outshooting the Golden Knights 19-5.

Boston didn’t score until the third period, when Morgan Geekie’s 24th goal of the season tied the game. However, the Bruins couldn’t overcome their inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities and fell 5-1. The team has been outscored 20-8 in its last four games, and the trend is concerning.

Coach Joe Sacco attributed the loss to over-passing and a lack of shot volume. “We’re trying to make the cute play, the fancy play all the time,” he said. “It doesn’t work in this league. That’s too good of a team.”

Goalie Jeremy Swayman agreed that his team struggled to combat the Golden Knights’ defense. “We just didn’t get the results,” he said.

The Bruins have struggled on offense throughout their current slump, scoring over three goals just once in their last seven games. The team has also seen its goalie, Jeremy Swayman, struggle, allowing five goals on 32 shots for the second consecutive game.

The loss dropped Boston to 30-31-9 and leaves the team with a lot of work to do to turn their season around. They’ll face the San Jose Sharks on Friday night before returning home to play the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.
