BTS to Reunite as All Members Complete Military Service

South Korea’s K-pop supergroup BTS is set to reunite after all seven members complete their mandatory military service. Two new members, Kim Nam-joon (RM) and Kim Tae-hyung (V), have completed their 18-month enlistment, bringing the group closer to a comeback.

All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve in the military, but some top athletes and performers are exempted. BTS members were granted a delay in enlistment until age 30, following concerns about fairness. However, bills for exemption stalled, prompting the group to pause performing as a group in June 2022.

The four newly released members will likely join fans celebrating the group’s 12th anniversary of debut this weekend. Speaking after his discharge, V said he’s “remade my mind and body” and wants to “run to ARMY as quickly as I can.” RM stated that taking a long break has recharged him, allowing the group to create something fun and share it with fans.

With all members scheduled to finish mandatory enlistment by the end of June, BTS is expected to regroup in 2025. The K-pop supergroup’s return marks a significant milestone after years of hiatus on group activities.
