Building Local Restaurant Favorites with Custom Apps

During the pandemic, my wife and I started using local restaurant apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats to support our favorite eateries. However, we soon realized that relying solely on these platforms wasn’t ideal for local businesses.

We wanted more control over our orders and tried to mix up our choices by ordering from different places or avoiding certain categories altogether. But what really drove the need for a solution was maintaining a shared list of recommendations – a task my wife isn’t as enthusiastic about as I am.

To address this, I turned to Glide, a tool that enables users to create custom web apps for managing small data sets, like our local restaurant list. With Glide, I can build apps that are easily shareable and installable on various devices, including phones, tablets, and desktops.

By creating my own app, I gained the flexibility to organize my recommendations in a way that suits me best – with features like random selection or easy navigation. It’s now become an essential tool for our local restaurant exploration.
