Bulls Win Thrilling Hawaii Bowl

The University of South Florida (USF) celebrated Christmas Day with an unforgettable victory over San José State in the Hawaii Bowl. The game went into five overtime periods, becoming the NCAA’s first bowl or postseason game to exceed three overtimes.

Down by three points with less than a minute left, USF staged a remarkable comeback. A good punt return and two first downs set up kicker John Cannon for a charitable bounce, tying the game. The teams then engaged in a back-and-forth shootout, exchanging touchdowns, field goals, and two-point conversions.

Despite being outgained 441-291 and struggling on offense, USF’s defense and special teams units played crucial roles in securing the win. A 93-yard kick return touchdown by Ta’ron Keith was a highlight of the game.

USF quarterback Bryce Archie finished with 235 passing yards and an interception, but it was not enough to overcome San José State’s potent offense. The Bulls’ victory marked their second consecutive bowl win and first back-to-back winning season in recent history.
