Burger King’s social media team wanted to make their president, Tom Curtis, an online sensation. They taught him how to talk on camera and recorded videos of him promoting the new Whopper. To take it up a notch, they even posted his phone number online – then invited him over for iced tea at his home near the company’s headquarters in Miami. On the day of their social experiment, Tom answered an astonishing 1,400 calls and messages from fans, including a call from his son asking for help fixing his garbage disposal.
