Miami Heat guard Jimmy Butler expressed his concerns about finding joy on the court again, sparking speculation about a potential trade. In response to being asked if he can find that joy in Miami, Butler replied with a two-word answer: “Probably not.”
Butler’s performance in recent games has been underwhelming, with him scoring nine points and playing zero seconds in the fourth quarter for the second consecutive game. He has been held to 10 points or less six times this season, including leaving games early due to illness or injury.
Despite his frustration, Butler insists he will continue competing hard, regardless of his score. “I’m going out there to compete to win, either way,” he said. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra expressed confidence in Butler’s abilities and believes the team needs to figure out how to get him back to form.
Butler has a $52 million player option for next season or could leave Miami in free agency this summer if he remains past the trade deadline. The Heat have refused to trade him, but ESPN reported that Butler has indicated his desire to be moved by February 6th.
