Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has confirmed that it was targeted in a massive hack, with approximately $1.5 billion worth of digital currency stolen. The breach occurred when an attacker manipulated a routine transfer of Ethereum between digital wallets, transferring the crypto to an unknown address. Despite the theft, Bybit’s CEO, Ben Zhou, reassured customers that their holdings are secure and that the company can absorb the loss. North Korean hackers have been linked to several high-profile cryptocurrency thefts in recent years.
