BYU basketball has made a significant leap in the recruiting rankings after signing consensus No. 1 prospect AJ Dybantsa. The addition of Dybantsa sent the Cougars soaring to No. 11 in the 247Sports Team Composite Recruiting Rankings for the class of 2025.
Dybantsa, who has a perfect 1.000 composite score as a prospect, publicly announced his commitment to BYU on Tuesday during ESPN’s First Take. The 7-foot recruit had offers from several top programs but chose to join the Cougars over Michigan, Stanford, and others.
With Dybantsa’s signing, BYU is now knocking on the door of a top-10 recruiting class for the 2025 cycle. The Cougars’ 2025 class also includes four-star center Xavion Staton and Orem High forward Chamberlain Burgess.
“We’re so excited to welcome AJ and his family to BYU,” said head coach Kevin Young. “AJ is a generational talent who has a strong appetite to be the best player he can be. His versatile skill set and playmaking will seamlessly fit into our style of play.”
BYU’s 2025 class ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 Conference behind Houston, which has three 5-star prospects in their class, and Kansas, with two five-star pickups. The Cougars’ improved recruiting ranking is a significant boost for the program, and fans are eagerly anticipating what this talented group will achieve on the court.
