BYU Football Looks Ahead After Spring Camp Wrap-Up

BYU football has wrapped up its spring camp and is now focusing on the next steps in preparing for the upcoming 2025 season. Coach Kalani Sitake acknowledged that the players will take a short break to focus on finals, get some time off, and recover before returning to work in May.

“We’re looking forward to the grind of it all in the summer,” Sitake said during a teleconference. “We have a lot of work to do to continue improving physically.”

The team’s weight room progress and test scores have been impressive, with significant gains in muscle mass compared to fat. However, Sitake emphasized that individual players must still take ownership of their workouts.

“We’re not going to kick our feet up,” he said. “We’ll be recommending lifts, but it’s time for the guys to take responsibility.”

Offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick stressed that the team cannot let up in its efforts. “We’ve had a good spring, but we haven’t done anything yet this season,” he said. “There’s nobody in our program who is going to feel like we’ve arrived or anything like that.”

Defensive coordinator Jay Hill took a more relaxed approach after spring camp, stating that the coaches will take some time to “catch their breath” before diving into recruiting and bowl season activities.

The team will focus on evaluating the transfer portal and assessing potential new additions. However, Roderick and Hill believe that the Cougars are in good shape without relying on transfers to change the dynamic of the program.

“We really like our team right now,” Roderick said. “We’re not desperate to go find somebody. We’ll consider adding players who make us better, but if we don’t add anybody, I think we’ll be just fine too.”
