BYU QB Jake Retzlaff Withdraws from University Amid Allegations

Brigham Young University quarterback Jake Retzlaff is withdrawing from the university, citing a decision to step away from the football program after facing a likely suspension for violating the school’s honor code.

Retzlaff announced his departure in a statement on Instagram, stating that he had made the difficult decision to withdraw from BYU due to personal and spiritual growth. However, sources suggest that the quarterback faced a possible seven-game suspension for engaging in pre-marital sex, which is prohibited under the university’s honor code.

The controversy surrounding Retzlaff’s alleged actions led to a civil lawsuit filed by a Salt Lake County woman who claimed he sexually assaulted and raped her. The case was later dismissed after both parties agreed to dismiss it without prejudice. Retzlaff and his lawyers denied the allegations, stating that the sex was consensual.

University coach Kalani Sitake expressed his love and appreciation for Retzlaff but declined to comment on the quarterback’s situation. Retzlaff had a successful first season as BYU’s starting quarterback, leading the team to an 11-2 record.

Retzlaff plans to transfer to another school to continue playing football without joining the NCAA transfer portal. His decision marks a significant change for the quarterback and his future in college athletics remains uncertain.
