Cabot Creamery, owned by Agri-Mark, has issued a voluntary recall of its Extra Creamy Premium Sea Salted Butter due to elevated levels of coliform bacteria. The FDA classified the recall as Class III, indicating that the product is unlikely to cause serious health issues.
No reports of illness or complaints have been made about the butter, and 99.5% of the affected batch was retrieved before it reached consumers. However, 17 packages (approximately 8.5 pounds) were sold in Vermont, which bear the following identifiers: Sept. 9, 2025 expiration date, code 072 or 073, and a time stamp range of 22:00–00:30.
Agri-Mark assures that the issue has been identified and addressed internally, and no other products were affected. The company also disputed news reports claiming to exaggerate the recall’s risk to consumers.
