Chocolate firm Cadbury has lost its royal warrant for the first time in 170 years, following a review of the list by King Charles III since becoming monarch. The decision comes after campaign group B4Ukraine urged companies still operating in Russia to be removed from the list.
Cadbury was among 100 firms that missed the latest list of 386 royal warrant holders, along with Unilever. Bacardi and Nestle retained their warrants. The Royal Warrant Holders Association publishes the list, which guarantees quality and can influence customer choices.
Cadbury first received a royal warrant in 1854 under Queen Victoria. A spokesperson said they remain proud to be part of British life, despite being disappointed by the decision. Unilever acknowledged its long association with the royal family but did not comment on why it was awarded a new warrant while others were not. Buckingham Palace does not provide reasons for decisions on royal warrants.
