General Motors has unveiled the Cadillac Elevated Velocity, a new electric concept car aimed at expanding the brand’s luxury EV segment. The vehicle features multiple driving modes to enhance performance, including “welcome mode” that lifts gull-wing doors and lights up interior parts when entering, and “elevate mode” which retracts pedals and steering wheel for an autonomous experience.
The Cadillac Elevated Velocity boasts a “lifted yet elegant design,” riding on 24-inch wheels. The car’s exterior color is inspired by glacier ice, contrasted against the red interior. It builds upon Cadillac’s luxury EV portfolio, joining the Lyriq and Optiq models.
Automakers often use concept vehicles to gauge customer interest or showcase future directions. Cadillac aims to be all-electric by 2030 for its luxury brand, while General Motors has set a goal for exclusively offering EVs by 2035.
The Elevated Velocity continues Cadillac’s design principles from the “Opulent Velocity” concept car revealed in 2024. The vehicle includes features such as ambient lighting, fragrance, and climatization to enhance the driving experience.
Cadillac has been undergoing a revival effort, with luxury cars offering higher profit margins and attracting an affluent consumer base. The brand reported its best first half in nearly 20 years last month, citing success in EV sales.
