Caitlin Clark Injured for at Least Two Weeks with Left Quad Strain

The Indiana Fever announced that star player Caitlin Clark will be out of commission for at least two weeks due to a left quad strain. The injury occurred after the team’s loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday, and Clark underwent an MRI which confirmed the diagnosis. Coach Stephanie White stated that Clark reported pain in her leg during the game but did not know its severity.

Clark is averaging 19.0 points and 9.3 assists this season, making her one of the top players in the league. The injury marks the first time she has missed a regular-season game in her WNBA career. However, Clark did experience quad tightness during training camp and sat out a preseason contest.

White emphasized the importance of taking care of Clark’s injury to avoid long-term issues. “Sometimes great players don’t tell you when they’re hurting,” White said. The Fever will face the New York Liberty on Wednesday without Clark, followed by games against the Washington Mystics, Connecticut Sun, and Chicago Sky in upcoming weeks.

As a result of the injury, Clark’s odds for winning the WNBA MVP award have lengthened, while Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier’s odds have shortened. The Fever’s odds to win the WNBA title have also increased.
