Caitlin Clark has reached a significant milestone in her recovery from a left groin injury. After missing five consecutive games and 10 overall this season, the Indiana Fever’s star guard participated in a 5-on-5 practice session on Monday, giving fans optimism about her potential return to action.
The Fever have gone 3-2 without Clark, including three impressive wins over Dallas, Las Vegas, and Minnesota. However, both losses came at home against the Los Angeles Sparks, who exposed Indiana’s lack of scoring depth without Clark.
Head coach Stephanie White expressed confidence in Clark’s recovery, saying that the 5-on-5 drill allowed her to assess how the team’s cornerstone guard performs in game situations. While there is no guarantee of a return on Wednesday, June 9, White believes that Clark will be able to do more and provide different looks on offense.
White highlighted the benefits of Aari McDonald pairing with Clark at guard, allowing for more off-ball action from Clark and giving the team different options when she needs a break. With Clark’s successful practice session, the Fever welcome former Hawkeye Kate Martin and the Golden State Valkyries to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday morning.
The game will begin at 11 a.m. CT and broadcast on NBA TV.
