Cal Yee Farm Recalls Chocolate-Covered Products Due to Hidden Allergens

A recall of chocolate-covered products has been elevated to the highest risk level by the US Food and Drug Administration due to multiple undeclared allergens. The FDA issued this update on January 22.

Cal Yee Farm LLC first recalled an array of chocolate and yogurt-covered products on December 12, 2024, along with other dried fruit, nut mixes, and snacks that may contain milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6, and almonds.

Consumers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to these allergens are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the products. The company has corrected the labels to meet FDA allergen labeling standards.

The Suisun Valley-based food manufacturer distributed the recalled products in nine states, including California, Arizona, Virginia, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The recall was initiated last year after an FDA inspection revealed that products containing milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6, and almonds were packaged without clear labeling of these allergens.

As a result, the FDA has classified the recall as Class I, indicating a reasonable probability of serious adverse health consequences or death. A representative for Cal Yee Farm did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the new classification.

Consumers can view the full list of affected products, including size and UPC code, on the company’s website.
