A man won the $527 million Powerball jackpot in California, with his lucky ticket sold at a 7-Eleven store in Anaheim, about 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The winning numbers were 7, 11, 21, 53, and 61, along with a Powerball of 2.
The previous record for the grand prize was set on January 18 when an Oregon player won $329 million. In addition to the jackpot winner, over 925,000 other tickets sold in the US won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000.
To play Powerball, players must match all five white balls and the red Powerball. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338. Powerball drawings take place on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET, and tickets can be purchased up to the drawing time.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
