Calipari Delivers Sweet Revenge to Kentucky

Arkansas coach John Calipari led his team to a 89-79 victory over No. 12 Kentucky in Rupp Arena, handing the Wildcats their first SEC loss this season. Here are five key things to know from the game.

Calipari proved he’s still a master motivator, getting the most out of his players and leading them to a convincing win. Adou Thiero scored 20 points, while former Kentucky player Johnell Davis found his form with 18 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Meanwhile, Arkansas’ Zvonimir Ivisic hit four of seven three-pointers and scored 14 points.

The Razorbacks shot an impressive 52% from beyond the arc, hitting 13 of 25 treys. This marks a significant improvement from their 32.5% season average. Amari Williams put up a strong performance for Kentucky, finishing with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.

Calipari’s win marked his first against Kentucky since leaving in 2019. He has now joined a group of only three coaches to lead at least three different teams to wins over the Wildcats. The Arkansas coach celebrated an emphatic “How do you like me now?” after the game, signaling that he still packs a punch in his coaching career.
