Microsoft’s promise to bring Call of Duty games to Nintendo platforms has been called into question after the release date for Black Ops 7 was confirmed, with no indication it will launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.
The company had agreed to a “binding 10-year legal agreement” to release future Call of Duty games on Nintendo platforms alongside Xbox. However, according to reliable leaker billbil-kun, Black Ops 7 is set for release on November 14, 2025, on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
While the franchise has been absent from Nintendo since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U, Activision had stated in June that it was committed to bringing Call of Duty to Switch. However, it now appears that Black Ops 7 will not follow suit with its Xbox launch.
In contrast, Xbox versions of the game are expected to include a physical release with a disc, a move that contradicts recent Microsoft’s decision to sell some games for $80 after initially setting a price cap at $70. The game is reportedly priced at $69.99 in the US, sticking to the previously announced price.
The launch details for Black Ops 7 will be revealed on August 19 during Opening Night Live at gamescom.
