Calvary Episcopal Church Receives $996k Grant for Slave Market Memorial

Calvary Episcopal Church in Calvary, Georgia, is developing a memorial to honor the thousands of slaves sold at a historic slave market where the church parking lot now stands. The Mellon Foundation has donated nearly $1 million ($996,000) towards this project, which will cover costs such as design and community engagement. The “Legacy at 87 Adams” project has been in progress for nearly a decade.
