Can It Be Too Late to Get Healthy in Midlife?

At 66, I decided to focus on my health again. A recent Stanford University medical paper sparked my concern about aging. The study found that people experience two major ages – at 44 and 60 – where physical decline accelerates. Researchers analyzed biological data from 108 individuals to reach this conclusion.

The “multiomic approach” used in the study examined various levels of biological data, including microbes, proteins, lipids, and genes. This comprehensive analysis made me wonder if it’s ever too late to make significant changes for better health.

My own quest for rejuvenation led me to reduce drinking, increase exercise, and reevaluate life’s priorities. As I approached my 66th birthday, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this paper had changed everything.
