The Cannes Film Festival has introduced new red carpet rules, banning nudity and “excessively voluminous” clothing. The changes are in line with French law and aim to prevent obstructive attire from hindering the festival’s movement and seating arrangements.
The festival organizers have clarified that their goal is not to regulate individual fashion choices but rather to maintain a professional atmosphere on the red carpet. Guests who refuse to adapt to these new rules risk being denied access.
Halle Berry, a member of this year’s competition jury, made headlines when she revealed that her stunning dress had to be altered due to its long train, which did not meet the festival’s new guidelines. Berry expressed support for the ban on nudity and acknowledged that it was “probably a good rule.”
