Capitals Edge Red Wings in Thrilling Comeback Victory

A tight game between Washington and Detroit ended with a dramatic comeback win for the Capitals. The Capitals’ goalie Logan Thompson made 23 saves to shut down the Red Wings, while Petr Mrazek stopped 22 of 26 shots.

At the start of the first period, center Dylan Strome opened the scoring early, curling toward the top of the slot and firing a wrist shot that sailed through traffic. Forward Connor McMichael provided a screen in front of the net to help the shot slide through.

The Red Wings tied the game at 1-1 when Dylan Larkin put in a rebound off a shot from Ben Chiarot, but Thompson continued to be sharp in the second period, stopping all Detroit shots. In the third period, the Capitals took control with a pair of late goals, including one by Tom Wilson, who reached his first 30-goal season.

The game was marked by crucial saves by Logan Thompson, including a massive stop on Dylan Larkin with just over a minute remaining in regulation. The save allowed Washington to hold off Detroit and secure the win.
