Car Crashes into Liverpool Parade, 50 Injured After Premier League Win

A car plowed into a crowd of pedestrians on Water Street in Liverpool’s city center shortly after the conclusion of the Premier League victory parade on Sunday, injuring over 50 people. A 53-year-old man from West Derby has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of drugs.

Police believe the driver followed an ambulance attending to a person having a suspected heart attack, allowing them to access the road. The incident occurred despite no prior intelligence suggesting such an event would take place. All 11 injured victims remain in hospitals but are stable and recovering.

The UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, expressed his condolences to those affected, praising the swift response of police and emergency services. The Premier League has also offered support to Liverpool FC, while former manager Jürgen Klopp shared his shock and devastation on social media.
