Cornerback Patrick Peterson has announced his retirement from the Arizona Cardinals, citing that he no longer wants to play in the league. The 13-year veteran made the decision after spending 10 seasons with the team and making multiple Pro Bowls and All-Pro selections.
Peterson stated that while he believes he can still play at a high level, the league is now looking for younger players and he doesn’t want to be relegated to a backup role. He acknowledged his age and expressed satisfaction with his current situation, saying his career was “great” and he has no regrets.
Although retired, Peterson plans to transition into media or help the Cardinals win a championship, as he’s still seeking that elusive Super Bowl ring in his football resume.
