Caribbean Coast Guard Finds 13 Decomposing Bodies in Boat

A vessel adrift off the coast of St Kitts and Nevis has yielded 13 decomposing bodies, just days after another five were discovered in a skiff near Trinidad and Tobago. The two incidents remain unrelated, with officials unsure if there’s a connection between them.

The boat was found on Wednesday in an advanced state of decomposition, but its age, gender, and identity cannot be confirmed. Authorities towed the vessel to shore and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, a similar callout led to the discovery of a skiff off Trinidad and Tobago with five dead people onboard last weekend.

The 2021 discovery of a boat with 15 remains found nearby bears striking resemblance to the current vessel. It is speculated that this boat may have originated from the African coast, carrying migrants on board. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding these tragic incidents.
