Carson Hocevar Wins Pole for Texas Motor Speedway’s Würth 400

Carson Hocevar secured the pole position for Sunday’s Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway with a lap time of 191.659 mph, edging William Byron by just 0.014 seconds.

The 22-year-old driver, clad in a Chili’s-designed cowboy outfit, was overjoyed after his pole-winning lap stood out from the rest. Hocevar said he was proud to have secured the top starting position, especially considering the team had struggled with pit road issues and luck earlier in the season.

Hocevar’s teammate, Michael McDowell, took second place in qualifying with a time of 191.333 mph, just 0.006 seconds behind his driver. Austin Cindric finished third at 191.523 mph, but felt he left some speed on the table.

The pole winner is also the youngest-ever pole sitter at Texas Motor Speedway at age 22. The Busch Light Pole Award marks Hocevar’s first major victory in his career. Defending champion Chase Elliott will start from 29th place.
