Cash App Users Can File $2,500 Claim Due to 2021 Data Breach

A recent data breach in December 2021 has affected approximately 8.2 million current and former Cash App Investing customers. The breach compromised personal information, including full names, brokerage account numbers, and stock trading activity.

Cash App users who were affected by the breach have until November 18, 2024, to submit their claim for reimbursement. The settlement amount is $15 million, with eligible users potentially receiving up to $2,500. This compensation covers out-of-pocket expenses, lost time, and unreimbursed monetary losses.

The breach was caused by a former employee accessing and downloading personal information without user knowledge. Cash App has reached out to affected users, notifying them of the potential exposure of their data.

To file a claim, eligible users must have held an account between August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024. They can submit one claim form, including all relevant details, by November 19, 2024, at 2 AM ET. A judge will decide on the settlement terms by December 19, 2024.

Affected users should act quickly to file their claims, as this is a golden opportunity to receive reimbursement for the breach that compromised their personal information.
