Cavaliers Acquire De’Andre Hunter from Hawks

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired forward-guard De’Andre Hunter from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Caris LeVert, forward Georges Niang, three future 2nd-round picks and two pick swaps. The deal was finalized just hours before the 3 p.m. Eastern trade deadline.

Hunter, a No. 4 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, is averaging a career-high 19.0 points this season, while also contributing 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 37 games. LeVert, meanwhile, has averaged 10.2 points and 3.7 assists in 23.8 minutes per game with the Cavaliers this season.

Niang will head to Atlanta after one-plus season in Cleveland, where he’s averaging 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds over 51 games this season. The move is part of the Cavaliers’ efforts to bolster their supporting cast as they make a push for contention this season.
