Cavs’ Darius Garland Undergoes Surgery to Repair Big Toe Injury

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star guard Darius Garland has undergone surgery to repair a big toe injury that plagued him throughout the playoffs. The procedure, performed by Dr. Nicholas Strasser of Vanderbilt University Medical Center and in consultation with several other medical experts, will sideline Garland for most of the offseason.

According to team officials, Garland is expected to make a full recovery and resume basketball activities by early October. However, sources indicate that he may miss some time at the start of the regular season.

Garland’s injury, similar to turf toe, first started bothering him in late March during the regular season. Despite trying to give it extended time to heal on its own, he decided to seek surgical intervention to provide much-needed relief and potentially prevent the problem from recurring next season.

The injury limited Garland’s performance throughout the conference semifinals, as he averaged just 14.0 points per game with a shooting percentage below his usual level. The Cavaliers ultimately lost the series 4-1.

Garland is looking forward to rediscovering his form in the upcoming season after playing a career-high 75 regular-season games and being named an All-Star reserve for the second time.
