Cleveland Cavaliers came from behind twice in a thrilling 133-129 overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, extending their winning streak to 10 games. DeAndre Hunter and Ty Jerome led the way with crucial performances, as the Cavs erased deficits of 18 points and 12 points in the second half.
The Cavs struggled early, registering just 42 points in the first half due to poor shooting. They trailed by as many as 18 late in the third quarter but stormed back in the fourth behind Hunter’s string of three-point makes. The team took a one-point lead with under five minutes remaining and held on despite Max Strus’ game-tying attempt.
Kenny Atkinson opted for a numbers game instead, sending the Trail Blazers to the free-throw line, which backfired when Anfernee Simons made both shots to tie the game. However, Hunter sealed the victory with nine points in overtime, including a clutch pair of free throws that extended Cleveland’s lead.
Hunter led the way with 32 points and seven rebounds, while Jerome added 25 points on 8-17 shooting with six assists. Evan Mobley, who struggled for three quarters, found his rhythm in the fourth to contribute 20 points. The Cavs have now reached 50-10 on the season, thanks to Hunter’s clutch performances and a team that refuses to be defeated when trailing by double digits.
