CBS Pittsburgh Station KDKA-TV Lays Off Dozen Staffers Amid Paramount Reorganization

Paramount has begun major layoffs at its local CBS station, KDKA-TV, impacting about a dozen jobs and causing scheduling changes for one program. The cuts are part of a broader restructuring effort led by new CEO David Ellison, which aims to address redundancies and phase out roles that no longer align with the company’s priorities.

The affected employees include on-air personalities Katie O’Malley, Kelly Dzanaj, and Lisa Smith. “Intersections,” a community affairs show hosted by Ms. Smith, will now air monthly instead of weekly. The popular talk show “Talk Pittsburgh” will continue to air daily in its current timeslot.

CEO Ellison stated that the restructuring is necessary for Paramount’s long-term success, citing the need to strengthen the company’s focus on growth. The layoffs are expected to impact around 2,000 employees, representing about 10% of the company’s total workforce.
