CD Projekt Red has announced that its sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is entering pre-production, a significant milestone for the game’s development. The news comes after the studio shared a roadmap in 2022, outlining plans for “Project Orion,” which would further explore the potential of the universe created by the original game.
The team responsible for the next big game set in the Cyberpunk universe has completed the project’s conceptual phase, and the codename “Project Orion” is no longer applicable. This marks a major step forward for the development of Cyberpunk 2, but it’s still a long way off from being released to players.
In related news, CD Projekt Red has revealed that their Phantom Liberty expansion has sold over 10 million copies since its launch on PC and consoles in late 2023. The expansion is part of the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game and all DLC, and will soon be available on Switch 2 and macOS.
