CDC Vaccine Advisory Committee Under Kennedy Jr.’s Control

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has seen its vaccine advisory committee’s guidance disrupted after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took charge, appointing a smaller panel with varying views on vaccines.

The CDC typically releases national recommendations in June for the fall season, but this year’s guidance remains uncertain. Unlike recent flu and RSV shots, no COVID-19 shot recommendations have been issued yet. Pediatrician Dr. Brenda Anders Pring expressed concern that the new committee’s lack of experience will lead to confusion among parents and healthcare professionals.

The change has raised questions about the panel’s objectivity and the impact on vaccine administration. As the country prepares for another flu season, the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 shots casts a shadow over public health efforts.
