CDC withholds bird flu report under Trump administration

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention withheld a report on the number of veterinarians infected with bird flu, following an executive order from President Donald Trump’s administration. The report, released just days before Trump took office, revealed the H5N1 virus had spread to various animals, including chickens, cows, wild birds, pigs, ducks, and cats.

The bird flu virus has been active since 2022, with increasing mutations and a growing number of infected species. Experts warn that this versatile virus may be infecting people more than previously thought, making it a pressing public health concern. The withheld report highlights the administration’s handling of scientific information during its early days in office.
