Russian authorities reported a Ukrainian drone attack on an oil facility in the southern Krasnodar Krai region, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said overnight missile and drone attacks launched by Russia showed that Moscow’s claimed support for a ceasefire in Ukraine is not “real.” The barrage came hours after Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin agreed to a halt in attacks on energy infrastructure as part of the White House’s peace efforts.
Ukrainian authorities reported airstrikes in several regions, including a drone attack on a hospital in the northeastern city of Sumy. The barrage resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure, with President Zelenskyy saying that night attacks by Russia destroy Ukraine’s energy and normal life.
Russia’s military claimed to have neutralized seven of its own drones after receiving Putin’s partial ceasefire order, but Zelenskyy rejected the proposal for a complete ceasefire, calling it “not right” for the world. He urged the international community to reject any attempts by Putin to drag out the war in response.
The Kremlin said the call between Trump and Putin was a “detailed and frank exchange of views,” with both sides agreeing to a ceasefire on energy infrastructure attacks but not a full 30-day ceasefire proposed by Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russian authorities reported a drone attack on an oil depot facility in Krasnodar Krai region, with no casualties but damage to the pipeline. The attack was described as “another provocation specially prepared by the Kyiv regime” by Russia’s Defense Ministry.
The White House said that negotiations will begin immediately for a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea and full ceasefire. Trump called the hours-long conversation “very good and productive,” saying securing the 30-day ceasefire sought by Ukraine would have been tough.
