Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle United secured spots in next season’s Champions League after dramatic final-day victories.
City thrashed Fulham 2-0 to seal second place, with Ilkay Gündogan scoring a stunning overhead kick in the 21st minute. Erling Haaland sealed third place with a late penalty.
Chelsea overcame Nottingham Forest 1-0, securing their first Champions League qualification under Enzo Maresca’s management. Forest, however, ended their season in seventh, having spent most of the campaign in the top-four.
Newcastle United clinched the final Champions League spot after beating Everton 1-0 at home. Despite an early goal from Amad Diallo, Villa’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United sealed the Magpies’ place in Europe’s elite.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest will compete in the Europa League and Conference League respectively next season after finishing seventh and tenth. Liverpool and Arsenal had already claimed the top two spots before the final day.
