Chargers’ Justin Herbert Takes Blame for Embarrassing Playoff Loss

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has taken full accountability for the team’s dismal 32-12 playoff loss to the Texans. Herbert finished the game with a franchise-worst completion percentage, throwing four interceptions against just one in the regular season.

The Chargers’ struggles began early, as Herbert threw an underthrown pass in the red zone that was intercepted by Kamari Lassiter in the second quarter. Later, Herbert’s third interception came due to a drop by tight end Will Dissly, and his fourth pick-six came when wide receiver DJ Chark had a step on cornerback Derek Stingley Jr.

Coach Jim Harbaugh defended Herbert post-game, citing poor protection from the offense line and strong edge pressure from the Texans. “He’s got to be able to finish a throwing motion,” Harbaugh said. Despite the loss, teammates rallied around Herbert, praising his skills as a quarterback.

“We know he’s a great quarterback,” center Bradley Bozeman said. “One of the best in the league.” Safety Alohi Gilman added that Herbert is the team’s leader and wouldn’t change a thing about his performance.

Herbert now sits at 0-2 in the playoffs, following up an embarrassing loss to the Jaguars two seasons ago. The Chargers will review film to assess what went wrong, with Herbert vowing to get better and push forward.
