Chef Stefon Rishel Brings Global Cuisine to Oak & Third in Mineral Wells

Celebrity chef Stefon Rishel has opened his new fine dining restaurant, Oak & Third, at The Crazy Water Hotel in Mineral Wells. Fans of his work from previous restaurants like Max’s Wine Dive, Wishbone, and Flynt will find familiar flavors on the menu, including Rishel’s signature PB&J wings.

Rishel’s concept for Oak & Third is global cuisine with a focus on Texas ingredients, with around 80% of food served coming from local sources. Patrons can expect dishes like pan-roasted grouper, smoked redfish dip, and Niman Ranch braised beef cheek.

The restaurant’s general manager, Bridget Shelton, helped find Rishel for the position after searching through over 50 candidates, including chefs from Dubai and The French Laundry. Oak & Third replaced chef David Bull, who founded Second Bar + Kitchen for La Corsha and is now building a nonprofit Mineral Wellness Center in Mineral Wells.

Rishel aims to eventually expand service to seven days a week and has set his sights on establishing a legacy for the restaurant before the reopening of the historic Baker Hotel and Spa planned for 2028. The Crazy Water hotel, which reopened in phases beginning in 2019, is now a popular destination with its mineral water spa and men’s and women’s spas.
