Chelsea has completed the signing of 22-year-old forward Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in a deal worth £30m. Delap, who scored 12 goals last season, has signed a six-year contract with the club after being courted by other top teams including Everton and Manchester United.
Delap’s move was facilitated by his current agent Enzo Maresca, who played a key role in convincing the England Under-21 international to join Chelsea. The forward expressed his excitement about joining the club, stating that he believes it will be an “incredible place for me to develop” and help the team win more trophies.
The £30m transfer fee is a significant investment in Delap’s development, but Chelsea may not be done with signing new forwards this summer. They are reportedly interested in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, which could raise questions over Nicolas Jackson’s future at the club.
