The all-new Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1 is a force to be reckoned with, boasting an astonishing acceleration of 0-60mph in just 2.3 seconds, making it the quickest ‘Vette in its 71-year history. This impressive feat surpasses the hybrid C8 E-Ray by 0.2 seconds and outperforms most street-legal vehicles at drag strips.
The ZR1’s acceleration is attributed to its powerful 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V-8 engine, producing an incredible 1,064 horsepower and 828 ft-lbs of torque. This massive output propels the car to a top speed of 233 mph, making it not only the fastest Corvette but also the fastest series production vehicle ever built by an American automaker.
The ZR1 is available with an optional performance package, which includes front drive planes, underbody strakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. However, even without the package, the car can still deliver impressive acceleration, reaching 60mph in 2.5 seconds and covering the quarter-mile in 9.7 seconds.
Production of the C8 Corvette ZR1 is set to begin early next year, with a price expected to be around double that of the E-Ray’s $106,900 starting price.
