The Kansas City Chiefs remained undefeated, improving to 14-1 after a dominant 27-19 victory over the Houston Texans on Saturday. To secure the AFC’s number one playoff seed, the Chiefs need only beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.
Despite several injuries, including a high ankle sprain to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City controlled the game from start to finish. Cornerback Trent McDuffie, already an All-Pro, continued his impressive form with two interceptions in as many weeks. Rookie Jaden Hicks also made a significant impact with an interception of his own.
Mahomes led the offense with 260 yards and a touchdown through the air, while on the ground, he showcased his trademark resilience, scoring on a 15-yard scramble. The Chiefs’ receiving corps, including newcomers Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy, delivered solid performances, with Brown making a strong debut in his first game.
Running back Samaje Perine continued to establish himself as an important player off the field, catching all three of his targets for 50 critical yards. Meanwhile, EDGE George Karlaftis had a standout outing, collecting four quarterback hits and a batted pass.
However, not every player had a successful day. Running back Isiah Pacheco struggled with just nine carries for 26 yards, while EDGE Mike Danna’s pass rush productivity remains down, despite being an essential part of the defensive line’s rotation.
