Chiefs Prove Bills Costly Trade Wasn’t Worth It

In a pivotal AFC championship game, Kansas City Chiefs’ star wide receiver Xavier Worthy proved why he was selected over the Buffalo Bills in a crucial trade-back draft. Worthy caught six passes for 85 yards and scored a touchdown, while also gaining 16 yards on two carries. Entering the game with a clear chip on his shoulder after beating Buffalo, Worthy expressed frustration by saying, “I said it once, they skipped on me, that’s their loss.”

The trade-up package that brought Worthy to Kansas City was a masterstroke for the Chiefs, as injuries and ineffective play in the receiving corps plagued their efforts. Worthy’s performance Sunday marked his first career conference championship game with 100-plus scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Notably, he had his most impressive catch of the game late in the second quarter when he wrestled the ball away from Bills safety Cole Bishop for a 26-yard gain to set up the TD.

Buffalo’s rookie receiver Keon Coleman caught one pass for 12 yards on four targets. The trade-back also cemented Kansas City’s dominance, as they acquired Patrick Mahomes and potentially locked in their first NFL title defense after drafting Worthy. However, the trade back home cost Buffalo dearly, as they faced a losing proposition with Worthy’s explosive performance.
