Chile Nationwide Power Outage Affects Millions Across Country

A power outage hit millions of Chileans, including those in Santiago, the country’s capital. The blackout affected 13 regions across the northern and southern parts of the country, according to an official statement by the government.

The electricity distributor Saesa reported that a nationwide power failure had impacted over a million people, causing widespread disruptions. Interior Minister Carolina Tohá is working with officials and electricity providers to restore service as soon as possible.

With over 19 million people living in Chile, this outage highlights the country’s reliance on its power grid. The Transportation Ministry warned motorists to exercise caution while driving due to faulty traffic lights, advising them not to transfer passengers stuck on metro trains until further instructions are provided.
