China Calls for Market Opening Amid Economic Uncertainty

China is urging nations to open up markets as economic fragmentation grows, according to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. At a meeting with global business leaders, including US Senator Steve Daines, Li emphasized the importance of cooperation and stability in bilateral relations with the US.

Li’s comments come amid slowing growth and rising trade tensions, which have reduced investment appeal in China. Despite this, officials are trying to capitalize on private sector momentum driven by artificial intelligence startups like DeepSeek.

The Chinese government has recently unveiled a consumption action plan to buffer the economy against external risks. Li also reiterated his pledge to cut interest rates and offer support when necessary to ensure economic stability.

The two-day forum is attended by top executives from companies including Apple, Pfizer, and Saudi Aramco. US officials, including Senator Daines and President Trump’s former advisor Stephen Orlins, are also present.
