China has urged the US to cancel its sweeping tariffs on Chinese goods entering the country, stating it’s a necessary step for serious trade talks. The US and China are locked in a trade war, with each side imposing significant taxes on imports.
The US has taxed Chinese goods up to 145%, while China has retaliated with a 125% tax on American products. A top Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesman said the US should remove all “unilateral tariff measures” against China to solve the issue.
In a statement, he also accused reports of US-China trade talks as “false.” The US Treasury Secretary and President Trump have also contradicted each other on this front.
Despite this, some officials, including President Trump, believe negotiations between the countries are active. However, the situation remains unresolved, with tensions escalating further.
The latest development is Boeing planes being returned to China due to tariffs. Meanwhile, a roundtable discussion was held in China for over 80 foreign firms affected by US tariffs on their investments and operations.
